West End is a cool place, probably one of the coolest places to hang in Brisbane. Night times are constantly bubbling with social activity. Cafes, bars, restaurants, pubs, night clubs, boutique shops, blah blah blah – it’s all there. Somewhere to Stay backpackers is fortunately located in the heart of West End. This means that by staying here, you will be so close to everything, and never have to worry about catching a cab, if you by chance have a few too many drinks. Here is a possible itinerary, jam packed with super fun activities – day and night.
Monday: West End Club (2 Vulture St) – Dance Dance Revolution! Take a Bollywood or Hip Hop dancing class! It’s only $8. I think that is $8 well spent.
Tuesday: Lock’n’Load (142 Boundary St) – they have live jazz music on Tuesday nights. How cool is that! Go there!
Wednesday: Archive Beer Bar (100 Boundary Street) – This is one of my favourite places to chill. They are the coolest bar, entirely wallpapered with comic book pages! Awesome distraction. Wednesdays are 2 for the price of 1 main meals. Great pub food, and an excellent selection of beers. You would be silly not to go. After dinner, head upstairs to Uber Night Club. Wednesday nights go off there! Rad djs, R’n’B, dance music… need I say more?
Thursday:Boundary Hotel (137 Boundary St) – Great place to have an authentic Australian “pub experience”! They have recently re-furbished the whole place, so it looks nice and schmick. Can you say KARAOKE?! It is lots of fun. That is all.
Friday:Rumpus Room (56 Russell St, just off Boundary St) – So funky, so retro. Comfy bean bags to chill on, and adequate dance space to bust some moves. The djs are rad and play a varied selection of music. No one will be dissapointed! Rumpus Room can get pretty hectic, there are always good times to be had.
Saturday:West End Markets (Davies Park, Montague Road) – On a bright and sunny Saturday morning, nearly everyone in West End can be found at the Davies Park markets. Here you can choose from a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, brought to you by local farmers. There are food stalls, clothing and fashion stalls, and whatever else you can think of stalls! Sit under a beautiful fig tree, with a cup of homemade lemonade, a bag of apples, and a couple of care-free friends.
Sunday: You probably need a day to recover from the awesome week that you have just had. Or not. Three Monkeys (58 Mollison St) has a large range of delicious cakes, teas and coffees to whet the appetite of even the snobbiest of cafe goers. Have a bowl of Chai Tea with honey (literally, a bowl) and relax in one of Brisbane’s most lavishly decorated cafes – Bohemian style.
So… West End is fun. There are lots of things to do. Stay at Somewhere to Stay because it is very cool, and very close.
