Tattoos, fishnet stockings, bad-ass attitudes, ’70s glam and women shoving each other to the ground – no wonder Australia’s roller derby scene is taking off. The game is based on formation roller skating around an oval track by two teams. Points are scored when the designated scoring player (the “jammer”) of a given team laps members of the opposing team- hence offense and defense typically occur simultaneously.

Seriously, who wouldn’t want to see some tatted-up girls kick butt in the rink! Luckily for Brisbane, the derby scene has exploded, and tickets to the events are  readily available.  If you missed the Love Rockettes VS the Diner Mights this month, don’t fret! You can  come and see the girls smash it out on Saturday the 17th of September at the Brisbane Convention Center (located on Merivale St, Southbank) – walking distance from Somewhere To Stay!! Tickets are only $20.
